Jackson Unmanned Aerospace

Engineering confidence. Aviation standards. Experience that stands up to scrutiny.

Jackson UAS provides specialist unmanned aircraft engineering, maintenance, and operational support with a clear focus on safety, transparency, and regulatory compliance.

We specialise in the maintenance, repair, and modification of large UAVs from off the shelf XAG and DJI, to custom-built, commercial, and experimental platforms. From fault diagnosis and structural repair through to flight-critical system integration, we ensure aircraft are safe, compliant, and ready for operational use.

Our engineering approach is grounded in manned aviation maintenance principles and aligned with New Zealand CAA expectations. Quality, traceability, and clear documentation are built into every job — whether routine servicing or complex one-off work.

Jackson UAS works in partnership with SPS Automation to deliver nationwide UAV maintenance capability, including support for operators working outside standard manufacturer maintenance models. Together, we are CAA-approved to carry out maintenance on all UAV types operating in New Zealand, including non-standard, bespoke, experimental, and prototype aircraft.

We regularly support:

  • Custom and “one-off” UAV designs
  • Aircraft without OEM maintenance pathways
  • Independent conformity and airworthiness evidence
  • SORA and operational authorisation applications

Jackson UAS is a CAA Approved Organisation (CAR 101.202) for RPAS over 15 kg and has supported numerous successful Part 102 applications, providing practical guidance from early concept through to approval.

SPS Automation

Jackson UAS works in partnership with SPS Automation, a New Zealand owned and operated UAV Research and Development organisation, to deliver nationwide maintenance and airworthiness support across New Zealand.

Together, we are authorised and experienced in maintaining all UAV types, including large RPAS, agricultural platforms, and non-standard, bespoke, experimental, and prototype aircraft. The partnership also supports independent inspections, conformity assessments, and technical evidence for SORA and operational authorisation applications.

The NZ UAV Industry

Jackson UAS is proud to work with the broader New Zealand UAV industry through UAVNZ, the commercial drone industry association. As an active member and contributor — including in industry leadership roles — we collaborate with operators, service providers, and regulators to promote safer, more capable, and more professional unmanned aviation across the country.

Our involvement with UAVNZ helps drive shared best practices, supports the development of practical standards, and contributes to initiatives that benefit all UAV operators in New Zealand. This industry-wide engagement reflects our commitment not just to our clients but to the long-term growth and maturity of the sector.
